The Ministry of Commerce stated that due to the abundance of fake products in Kuwait, even leading international brands are reluctant to enter the market. Many products such as clothes, watches and footwear made by fakes under the name of various international brands are active in the Kuwait market.
According to the law, if fake products are seized, the first step is to close down the establishments before handing them over to prosecution. Trade in counterfeit products is also closely related to money laundering. This is considered as a crime which negatively affects the country's economy and authorities use fake spare parts in vehicles which cause brake failure and burst tires on the roads causing accidents.
