Reckless driving fine jumps 400% to 150 dinars

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Brigadier Nasser Bouslaib, Director of the Security Media Department, announced significant changes to the traffic law that will affect fines and penalties for traffic violations.

In a recent statement to “Al-Akhbar Channel,” Brigadier Bouslaib revealed that the fine for reckless driving has been increased from 30 dinars to 150 dinars. This change is part of a broader effort to address traffic safety concerns.


Additionally, the fine for running a red light will now be 150 dinars, up from the previous 50 dinars. The new regulations also introduce other penalties, including the impounding of vehicles and the recording of demerit points against the violator.

Repeat offenders may face more severe consequences, including the potential withdrawal of their driver’s license and the requirement to pass a new driving test before it can be reinstated.

These amendments aim to improve road safety and deter reckless behavior among drivers.
