Al-Anba, a local Arabic media outlet, reported that the decision to allow expatriates, except domestic workers, to stay outside the country for more than 6 months is still in effect.

The six-month rule applies to domestic workers and domestic workers are not allowed to leave the country for more than 6 months without prior permission from the authorities.

The report added that expatriates can renew their residence online even when they are outside the country.
