In Kuwait, inspections have been made to find illegal companies operating in the basement of buildings. The inspection is progressing under the leadership of the municipality with the cooperation of fire and rescue services. The inspection is under the direct supervision of the Municipality Director General Ahmed Al-Manfuhi. Currently, the inspection is being conducted in the Salmiya area.

Many owners have converted the basements designated as car parks in the buildings into warehouses. Manfoohi said that warning notices have already been issued to around 22 owners who are renting out basements for commercial activities in violation of building regulations.
He warned that the inspection campaign will continue until all basements that do not comply with the fire department's safety instructions are removed and that violators will not be lenient.
