Today, voters are casting their ballots to select representatives for the 18th legislative term in the National Assembly, which comprises 50 members. The voting process commences at 12 noon on Thursday, the 4th of this month, and extends until midnight. Anticipations are high for citizen participation in this electoral event.

Despite the Ramadan atmosphere, these elections mark the second occurrence of their kind in the history of parliamentary life, coinciding with the holy month.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior, inspected several polling stations for the 2024 National Assembly elections.

The General Department of Security Relations and Media at the Interior Ministry stated in a press release that Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef conducted an inspection tour, which encompassed multiple polling stations, to assess the security measures in place for ensuring the security in the elections.

Minister of Information and Culture Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi expressed his strong commitment to providing media professionals with every opportunity to cover the democratic event “Nation 2024.” This includes utilizing the services of the Ministry’s media center and offering relevant data and information to support their duties effectively.

During the inauguration of the media center for the National Assembly elections, established by the Ministry to assist journalists and media professionals both locally and internationally, Al-Mutairi highlighted the Ministry’s eagerness to host journalists from around the globe. The goal is to accurately portray the electoral process’s progress with complete transparency and acquaint them with Kuwait’s democratic procedures.

Following the center’s opening, Minister Al-Mutairi toured the Kuwait TV and radio studios. During this visit, he remarked on their preparedness and emphasized their complete readiness to cover this democratic event, ensuring it is portrayed in a manner that reflects the legacy and professionalism of Kuwaiti media.

Numbers of voters
The number of voters is 834,733, including 405,948 males and 428,785 females.

In the first electoral district, 41 candidates are competing for the votes of the district’s voters, numbering 104,038 male and female voters, 50,398 males and 53,640 females.

In the second district, 39 candidates are competing for the votes of 95,302 male and female voters, 46,639 males and 48,663 females.

In the third district, 32 candidates are competing for the votes of 143,693 male and female voters, 68,991 males and 74,702 females.

The fourth district has 48 candidates competing for the votes of 220,932 voters, comprising 106,534 males and 114,398 females.

The fifth district has 40 candidates competing for the votes of 270,768 voters, consisting of 133,386 males and 137,382 females.
