The disqualified National Assembly candidates reached the Court of Cassation’s consultation room, where their disqualification was upheld, along with the rejection of their appeals. Consequently, the final “Nation 2024” candidate list now comprises 200 male and female candidates.

On Sunday, the Counseling Chamber of the Court of Cassation, Third Administrative Circuit, headed by Counselor Najeeb Al-Majed, decided not to accept the appeals of the National Assembly candidates. These candidates include Marzouq Al-Khalifa, Ahmed Moti, Jaber Al-Muhailbi, Marzouq Al-Habini, and others, from the lists of “Nation 2024” candidates, supporting the ruling on their removal from the lists.

Days away from the constitutional entitlement to polling day next Thursday, the concerned authorities continue their preparations to highlight the democratic process in its most beautiful form. Questions have arisen about the status of voters who will cast their votes after midnight on Thursday-Friday, and whether this will be effective from a constitutional standpoint, given that voting extends into the next day.

It is known that voting during the holy month of Ramadan, as per the December election schedule, will occur from twelve noon on Thursday until twelve midnight. With the anticipation of a high turnout at election centers post-dinner, the voting period may extend beyond midnight. While external doors will close at this time, individuals inside polling stations will be allowed to continue voting, even if it takes an extended duration.

‘Al-Rai’ newspaper directed the question to constitutional expert Dr. Muhammad Al-Faili, who explained that “voters who are inside the school after 12 o’clock at night complete their voting, and the point here is whether it is 12 o’clock by entering the school,” indicating that a voter cannot enter the polling station after midnight. However, anyone already inside can continue voting.
