Kuwait City; Kuwait's Insurance Regulatory Unit has approved the decision to raise the annual insurance auto insurance from 19 Kuwaiti dinars to 32 dinars from 16 April 2023. This has been reported by local newspaper Kuwait Times. Following the development of an integrated electronic car registration system, the regulatory unit has approved several decisions, including amending the rates of compulsory insurance policy. The committee has also fixed the time limit for receiving compensation within a maximum of 10 working days from the date of completion of the insurance claim. According to the report, the insurance policy for private cars and motorcycles with non-Kuwaiti license plates entering through the borders is now KD 12 per week or KD 120 per year. KD 20 per week or KD 140 per year for taxis, KD 16 or KD 183 per week for public transport vehicles, and KD 30 or KD210 per year for freight vehicles. In addition to the KD 2 control fee, the premium will increase by KD 1 per passenger.
