KUWAIT CITY: The issuance of EB 5 visa employment visas to Egyptian workers coming to the country has been temporarily suspended. The reason for this action is the conditions imposed by the Egyptian Embassy contrary to Kuwaiti labor laws and administrative decisions. Egyptians are the second largest expatriate community in Kuwait after Indians.
Last day, the Kuwaiti Embassy increased the visa stamping fee by three times for those coming from Egypt to Kuwait on a family visa. Later, the electronic employment capability system was discontinued in both the countries. A local newspaper reported that the issuance of work visas to Egyptian workers had been suspended. According to the report, this measure implemented since last September will continue. Following the directive of the Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al Khalid Al Sabah, the action started from last September. No new decisions have been issued in this regard. Ministry sources informed that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al Khaled ordered to stop issuing work permits to Egyptians in response to a question about the conditions set by the Egyptian Embassy regarding the minimum wage for expatriate workers from Egypt.
