It is estimated that 66% of people living in Kuwait are homeless. Discussions took place at a symposium held yesterday evening in Al Qurain area to find solutions to end the plight of thousands of Kuwaitis living in rented accommodation. Activists have presented five popular ways to solve this problem.

*The first requirement is that the country's residential land should be freed as a major requirement and efforts should be consolidated to allocate budget for a period of five years to solve the housing problem.
*Other proposals include reorganizing the payment of rent allowance, studying aspects of budgetary expenditure, levying a generous tax on real estate dealers and landlords to pave the way for reducing rents and house prices.

During 2021-2022, 132,000 families have benefited from the rent allowance.
