New kuwait Media Law 102/2026

6 months until Kuwait’s new ad license law starts.

1 new law for all media in Kuwait.

Decree-Law 102 of 2026 replaces 3 old media laws. If you promote things to people in Kuwait as regular work, you need a license from the Ministry of Information.

Who counts as an influencer?

Anyone who makes ads or promo posts for the public as regular work. On your own account or for someone else. Paid, gift or free, it counts. The law sets no follower number.

Kuwaiti, resident or visitor: it covers you.

If your ads are for people in Kuwait, you need the license. It doesn’t matter where you are from.

Who doesn’t need a license?

You post your own life, with no ads.

A shop, company or licensed professional posting only for its own business.

But everyone must still follow the content rules.

4 rules for every ad.

Mark every ad clearly as an ad.

No false or misleading claims.

Featuring a child? Get a parent’s written OK.

Contests and giveaways need a license too.

What happens if you break it?

A fine of 1,000 to 50,000 KD.
License stopped up to 6 months, and it can be extended.
Court can block or close the account up to 1 year.
Companies that break it pay double.

Save this: do you need a license?

Do you promote a product, shop, service or event?
Is it for people in Kuwait?
Do you do it as regular work, paid or free?

Yes to all 3, and it’s not only for your own business? You need one. Good news: the law starts in April 2027, so you have time.
