Kuwait will experience nearly equal hours of day and night on Sunday, September 27, marking the beginning of the seasonal transition toward autumn, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center.

The center said that the summer season ends astronomically on September 22, when the Sun’s rays are perpendicular to the equator in an event known as the autumnal equinox.

Following the equinox, night hours will gradually increase at the expense of daylight, with daylight hours continuing to decrease as autumn progresses.

The center explained that the apparent movement of the Sun’s rays between the northern and southern hemispheres results from the Earth’s annual orbit around the Sun. The Sun’s rays cross the equator twice each year—around March 20 during the vernal equinox and in late September during the autumnal equinox.

The September equinox therefore marks the astronomical transition from summer to autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, including Kuwait.
