Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) resumed operations on Monday after a nearly 90-day shutdown, with Arab and foreign airlines gradually restarting flights to and from the country.

Director of Operations at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Mansour Al-Hashemi, said flight arrivals and departures are currently being operated between 4:00 am and 10:00 pm under a temporary schedule, with a gradual return to normal operating hours planned in the coming period.

Al-Hashemi said the first arriving flight was operated by Etihad Airways, which landed at 9:55 am. An IndiGo Airlines flight from Mumbai also arrived at Kuwait International Airport on Monday morning as services resumed. He added that 18 arrival and departure flights were scheduled for the day.

He noted that, during the initial phase of the reopening, each airline will operate one round-trip service per day as air traffic gradually increases.

Around 20 airlines have so far applied to resume operations and received the necessary approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority. Al-Hashemi said flight activity is expected to expand in the coming days as authorities prepare for the busy summer travel season.

He also reminded passengers that check-in counters for flights to GCC and Arab destinations close one hour before departure, while counters for other international destinations close one-and-a-half hours before departure. Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their flight.

The baggage drop-off service one day before departure remains suspended for most airlines and is currently available only on a limited basis for Kuwait Airways until operational and security procedures return to normal.

Airport authorities said they are working closely with relevant agencies to ensure a smooth and gradual restoration of services while maintaining international operational and security standards.
