The Ministry of Social Affairs has introduced new controls to regulate donation collection by charitable societies during the holy month of Ramadan, aiming to protect charitable work and ensure transparency.

Under the new measures, the use of K-Net point-of-sale devices inside mosques has been stopped. Donations will instead be made through the official websites of charitable societies.

Undersecretary Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi said the step is meant to address previous observations, strengthen governance, and maintain donor trust, stressing that individual violations should not be generalized to all charities.

Three field inspection teams have been deployed across the six governorates to monitor compliance, with violations to be recorded and addressed immediately.
