# CHIEF ACCOUNTANT & COST CONTROLLER

WOW MILKY is seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Accountant & Cost Controller to lead the company’s accounting, financial-reporting, and cost-control functions across our central kitchen and branch network.
## MANDATORY FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES
This role combines office-based financial leadership with mandatory field oversight across WOW MILKY branches. Regular and unannounced branch visits are required to perform physical cash counts, verify cash floats and petty cash, reconcile daily sales and POS/KNET settlements, review supporting documents, and investigate financial discrepancies.
## MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 6 years of accounting and cost-control experience, all gained specifically within the F&B industry, including cafés, restaurants, central kitchens, catering, or food production.
- Accounting experience outside the F&B industry will not be counted toward the minimum six-year requirement.
- At least 3 years of hands-on cost-control experience in a central kitchen or food-production environment.
- Professional proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic and English.
- Willingness and ability to conduct regular and unannounced field visits to all WOW MILKY branches across Kuwait.
## KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
### FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and financial records.
- Reconcile daily branch sales, including POS, cash, KNET/card transactions, cash deposits, and other payment channels.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
### BRANCH CASH AUDITS & FIELD CONTROL
- Conduct regular and unannounced branch visits to perform physical cash counts and verify cash floats, petty cash, daily sales, cash deposits, and POS/KNET settlements.
- Review branch financial documents, approvals, and supporting records.
- Investigate, document, and report cash shortages, overages, sales discrepancies, or weaknesses in branch financial controls.
- Follow up with the relevant departments to ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
### COST CONTROL & PROFITABILITY
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update recipe, ingredient, packaging, and product costing for all menu items.
- Calculate and monitor standard and actual food, beverage, and production costs.
- Monitor food-cost percentages, production yields, gross margins, and profitability by product and branch.
- Analyse ingredient, packaging, labour, and overhead costs.
- Compare actual costs against budgets and standard costs.
- Identify and investigate cost variances, wastage, production losses, and unusual consumption.
- Recommend cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality or operational standards.
### INVENTORY & PRODUCTION CONTROL
- Reconcile raw-material, packaging, and finished-product inventory with accounting and ERP records.
- Review central-kitchen-to-branch transfers, inventory movements, stock adjustments, and physical stock-count results.
- Monitor production yields and ensure recipe quantities and costs are updated accurately.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, and Operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and cost control.
### BUDGETING, CONTROLS & COMPLIANCE
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, cost analyses, and profitability reports for the central kitchen and branch operations.
- Maintain effective financial controls, supporting documents, and approval procedures.
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
## TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, recipe costing, inventory costing, production costing, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial formulas.
- Strong analytical, reporting, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, integrity, and accountability.
- CMA, CPA, ACCA, or a similar professional qualification is an advantage.
