• Writes customers food orders on order slips,
memorises orders, or enters orders into
computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
• Takes orders from customers for food or
beverages.
• Checks with customers to ensure that they are
enjoying their meals and take action to correct
any problems.
• Serves food and/or beverages to customers;
prepares and serves specialty dishes at tables
as required.
• Prepares cheques that itemise and totals meal
costs.
• Removes dishes and glasses from tables or
counters, and take them to kitchen for
cleaning.
• Presents menus to customers and answers
questions about menu items, making
recommendations upon request.
• Informs customers of daily specials
• Cleans tables and/or counters after customers
have finished dining.
• Prepares hot, cold, and mixed drinks for
customers.
• Explains how various menu items are
prepared, describing ingredients and cooking
methods.
• Prepares tables for meals.
• Stocks service areas with supplies such as
coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
• Garnishes and decorates dishes in preparation
for serving.
• Fills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment,
and napkin containers.
• Escorts customers to their tables.
• The Waiter/ Waitress must perform other
related duties as required by the business, and
as assigned by the direct Line Manager.
